Chief Executive Officer

Bruce Church studied at University of Illinois and received an MBA from Northern Illinois University. Every summer was spent working with the crews at Church Landscape, a business owned by his father, Denny Church.  Bruce’s studies merged horticulture, business and economics to contribute to the family business as he moved into sales and management upon graduation.  His education and experience allowed him to achieve the credential of Certified Landscape Professional through the national landscape association

In 1988, Bruce purchased Church Landscape and Royal Oaks Nursery, a plant nursery in Marengo, IL. Church Landscape expanded to five branches that spread from Indianapolis to the Chicago area and as far north as Milwaukee.   In 1998, Bruce merged Church Landscape with four other companies nationwide to form LandCare USA, which was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.  On their Board of Directors, Bruce became one of the early experts with regards to mergers and acquisitions in the landscape industry. Later LandCare USA was acquired and became part of TruGreen LandCare.

In the year 2000, Bruce started Hard Surface Solutions, Inc. when he entered into the service industry of concrete and asphalt replacement and repair. A few years later, he launched Balanced Environments, Inc.,  a natural pairing of companies to service all outdoor areas for his growing commercial clientele.

Currently, going in to 2018, Balanced Environments, Inc. and Hard Surface Solutions Inc. combine to perform over 25 million dollars in annual revenue with over 200 employees. Future goals include a long range plan to establish additional locations, additional talent and increased revenues  with expectations to exceed 40 million in annual revenue and staffing of over 400 employees.
