PROBLEM…Significant heaving from slab to slab. Approximately 10"-12" Creating hazards for pedestrian and wheeled traffic. |
SOLUTION…The hypothesis was that the grates were rusted and creating pressure on the slabs. Exploratory slab removal to identify any flowing water or unknown variables under the slab.
PROCESS & RESULTS…HSS saw cut to remove the pressure off of the slabs. Removal of concrete surrounding the drain. Rebuilt the drains and replaced/reset the grates. |
PROBLEM…Structural cracking in the webs and flange of the double T panels caused by overloaded weight distribution on the upper deck of the parking structure. |
SOLUTION…A structural engineer was brought in to assist in assessing the damages. The options were to either repair and add supplemental steel or remove and replace the 6 deteriorated panels. Ultimately the owner decided to remove/replace due to the similar cost of repair. |
PROCESS & RESULTS…HSS disconnected the panels, demoed the pour strips and broke everything free. Spancrete set the 6 new panels with a crane and over the next six weeks HSS installed all connections, expansion joints, pour-strips, sealants and membrane. |
